How do I get a pardon or clear a misdemeanor (marijuana possession) off my record?

I have a misdemeanor (possession of marijuana) charge back in May of 2002 in Texas. I have heard ways such as a pardon by a judge or expungement. But I really don't know how I can do this or if this information is correct. Or maybe you know of other way. In Texas, you can expunge certain records but not those of a conviction. Texas expungement law allows expungement of arrests which did not lead to a finding of guilt, and class C misdemeanors if the defendant received deferred adjudication, and completed community supervision.

Because you were convicted you would have to provide new evidence to show that you were innocent of the crime. The cost of that process would be immense.
