You can if your state has something like California does.
What is a DUI Expungement?
A DUI expungement is a legal process that petitions the Court to review a DUI-related conviction to determine:
If the term of probation was successfully completed %26amp; concluded;
That all fines, restitution and reimbursement ordered by the court have been paid and everything ordered by the court was completed in a timely manner;
That the petitioner is not now on probation for another offense;
That the petitioner has no new pending cases;
The Court then may allow the petitioner to withdraw his or plea or finding of guilt or no contest, and thereafter orders the case dismissed.
How does this help me?
Expungement law (Penal Code Section 1203.4) provides in part:
';[Petitioner shall]...be permitted by the court to withdraw his or her plea of guilty or plea of nolo contendere and enterIf i have an old dui like 20 years ago do i need to clear it out from my records?
It's there forever. However, most agencies that are going to check your driving record only go back 10 years.
Something that happened 20 years ago can be dismissed as a one time stupid mistake.
A lot of states have two driving abstracts. One for insurance purposes and one for criminal purposes. Only the government has access to he latter. If a private agency runs your driving record, they'll get the one for insurance purposes. It's possible to have it concealed that way, but it would have had to be done initially and you'd be aware of it, because your lawyer would have told you.
