I was convicted back in 2001 for a DUI. It is preventing me from doing the work that I am trained to do because of insurance reasons. I have seen books online that can ';tell'; me how to do it, but I need a quick answer so I can resolve this issue and take this job. I got the conviction when I was 19, I am 25 now, with only minor traffic infractions since my conviction. Anyone with a real, legitimate answer would be hugely appreciated. Thank you, in advance. How can I clear a DUI off my TX driving record? Please Help!?
It should be off your record by now - usually companies only check back 5 years. I heard that soon they will be holding DUI to your ticket for 10 years, but as of now it's still 5 years. Request a MVR and see if it shows up. Other than that as far as you making it go away - it's impossible. You have no control over the laws. How can I clear a DUI off my TX driving record? Nice to know I'm not the only one. ;) I got a DUI when I was 19, I'm now 24. Here in GA it's on your record for 3 years (at least mine was). Of course it's likely to be different in TX. The nature of the charges (how many, how severe) might also affect the time that it stays on your record, but I'm not for sure. Has this already presented a problem, or are you just anticipating it? I would double check to make sure it's still on your record, if you still have all the paperwork filed away I would think you'd find it there.
So really, all you can do is find out if it's still on your record. If you can find anything in writing saying it's not SUPPOSED to be there and yet it still shows up to prospective employers, you might be able to fight it, or at least make them aware of the problem. I'm no law expert though.... But good luck.
