What you need is a USB audio interface. It is designed to connect instruments and microphones to a computer, It will come with recording software:

I have this one and it works great! What is a CHEAP and CLEAR method of recording music from my electric bass/guitar?
Check out audacity to begin with, as it's free, has many useful effects, oh, and it's FREE!

you'll probably need a converter so you can plug your guitar wire into your sound card (the blue plug on it...not the red or green!) which can be seen here: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.鈥?/a>

...turn down the volume and then slowly up!!!

...and once you get bored of that and want a live, better, cleaner, sound with lots of effects to choose from, look up VST plugins (like freeamp 3, http://frettedsynth.home.att.net/) You'll need a host program,as well to run it though, like: http://www.hermannseib.com/english/vstho鈥?/a>

hope that helped!
Get a decent sound card and plug the amp through to your computer. That way you get top quality sound and it's dirt cheap.
Plug into your sound-in socket and use Windows Sound Recorder. Sounds rubbish but it is cheap and does work.
