How do I get a pardon or clear a misdemeanor (marijuana possession) off my record?

I have a misdemeanor (possession of marijuana) charge back in May of 2000 in Texas. I have heard ways such as a pardon by a judge or expungement. In the US, pardons come either through the Governor or the President. You should contact your Governor's Office for more details, as there is usually an application, and a mandatory amount of time before applying (usually 5 years from the date of conviction).
