I was charged with a class A misdemeanor in June for petty larceny. I did my community service and everything that was requested of me. I was told it would be sealed in 6 months. I do not have a PO and I live in NY. My funds are stretched and I can鈥檛 find a better job because of my record. What do I have to do to get it cleared earlier? How do I get my record cleared sooner?
Did you have legal counsel when your originally faced the charges in court? If so, I would contact that attorney and ask him/her to start the court processes to have it cleared.
If you didn't have an attorney you could schedule a free consultation with an attorney and they may be able to point you in the right direction. I know you can ask the court to expunge your record, but I'm not sure if you can do this without legal help or not.How do I get my record cleared sooner?
Somebody lied to you.
Your conviction will be on your record forever.
The only way that will change is if you hire an attorney and get an expungement done, and only 1 in 100 are approved by the courts.
Doubt there is much you can do. Only a judge can change the sentence and seal the charges.
