How do i clear this off my record?

i was in an at fault accident. No one was hurt. Only my car got messed up. I was given a ticket for following too close. I paid it. when i had to renew my insurance, i was informed my license has been suspended. I called the DMV and they said my license got suspended because i didn't show up at court on the court date......

I accepted it was my fault and paid the ticket, why did i have to show up at court? i thought people went to court to argue ( e.g if i had said it wasn't my fault or i didn't want to pay the ticket).

Who do i contact if i want to try to get the suspended license thing off my record?

ThanksHow do i clear this off my record?
You'll probably have to go to the court building and pay a small fee for another court date. I think you had to go to court anyways regardless of whether you paid the fine or not. I would do that, I missed court once myself, and I just ignored it, I ended up with a warrant. So I would do that Monday actually

Good luck :)How do i clear this off my record?
When a police officer issues a ticket, the officer can choose to make the citation ';court mandatory';. So, you will have to appear in court regardless.

I would contact your Sheriff's office and inquire with them. Maybe they can shed some light on this issue. I know that you paid the citation - but you were supposed to appear. I think the county sheriff's office will be able to help or direct you to the person that can help.

It is possible that you have an outstanding bench warrant, in which case you will be arrested the next time you come in any contact with law enforcement officials. you might want to contact an attorney.
were you charged with wrecklace or neglegent driving? This is not just another traffic violation. it is more on the serious side. Did the officer tell you that you had to report for court? If not it should of said something on the violation. Also the DMV should of sent you a notice that your license was suspended. Failure to appear in court can also result as a bench warrant being issued for your arrest. You may want to contact the court and start asking questions! Good luck.
Who says you can do that?
Typically with accidents you're supposed to show up at court and show that all damages have been taken care of. Ususally when the officer gives you the citation, they tell you this. They also usually don't write on the ticket that your car was the only car damaged. You should go to the courthouse and talk to the clerks about putting your case back on the calendar and on your new court date, go to court and show that the damages have been taken care of. Your case should be dismissed. Once that has been completed, you will need to go back to the DMV and get your license reinstated. I'm not 100% sure this will work, but this is how things work in NC.
