I just went through a similar experience. 8 years ago I was convicted of a misdemeanor in Florida. I completed my sentence and paid my restitution. Nonetheless, having a misdemeanor on my record kept haunting me. I've decided to do something about it and started searching on line for some useful websites. I found this:

I found the information on expungement to be really useful. I eventually ended up retaining an attorney who cleared things up for me. However, there is no reason to believe that you can not expunge your record yourself. Best of luck!
